Wyndham Vale Suburb Profile

Where is Wyndham Vale?

Wyndham Vale is an easy drive down the M1 Princes Freeway, about 30 kilometres south west of Melbourne’s CBD. Located conveniently right next to Werribee, it is part of the City of Wyndham and is neighboured by Mambourin, Hoppers Crossing and large sections of agricultural land. Wyndham Vale has its own railway station, with regional trains running from Warrnambool and Geelong stopping to take passengers on the 40-minute journey into Southern Cross Station in Melbourne city.

Living in Wyndham Vale

Wyndham Vale has a smallish population of around 23,300 people with a family-friendly focus and a peaceful atmosphere. The area is home to a large number of young professionals who want a sense of country living with an easy commute into the city, as well as young families and retirees.

There are a few major supermarket chains in the area including Coles, Woolworths and Aldi as well as a number of specialty shops, medical facilities, service centres and dining options. Local shopping centres include Wyndham Vale Square Shopping Centre, Wyndham Vale Shopping Centre and Manor Lakes Shopping Centre. Wyndham Vale locals can also drive to Werribee CBD or Pacific Werribee Shopping Centre in Hoppers Crossing in around 7 minutes, to access any number of services, retail outlets and food and entertainment options.

As a home to young families, Wyndham Vale has plenty of good educational options and more in the works to serve its growing population. There are at least 4 primary schools, including the new Wyndham Vale South primary school and the more established St Andrew’s Catholic School, Manorvale Primary School and Our Lady of the Southern Cross Catholic Primary School. There are also specialist colleges such as Manor Lakes College P-12 offering schooling from prep to year 12.

Wyndham Vale offers some good opportunities for property sales and investments, with solid growth and steady prices. Home to a range of older style as well as more modern contemporary houses, Wyndham Vale property sizes tend towards 3 and 4 bedroom homes. The older homes tend to have larger front and back yard areas, while the newer properties have the popular small, well landscaped outside spaces in front and back.  The local rental market is competitive with everything from modern 2 bedroom townhouses to older 4 or more bedroom homes, all at prices I line with those of nearby suburbs such as Tarneit or Hoppers Crossing.

Things to See and Do in Wyndham Vale

The highlights of Wyndham Vale are its natural attractions, with the Lollipop and Cherry Creeks offering lovely places to picnic or enjoy leisurely walks. Families can enjoy children’s play facilities at Harpley Estate or Presidents Park and take a walk from there down to the Werribee River nearby.

Sports and leisure are high on the agenda with local cricket, hockey and football teams taking advantage of facilities such as Wyndham Vale Reserve and Presidents Park. The Eagle Stadium sporting complex and the Werribee Racecourse are also right on Wyndham Vale’s doorstep.

Being so central to both Werribee and Pacific Werribee, the locals in Wyndham Vale are spoilt for choice when it comes to wining and dining. But those in the know can get their fix of Asian food at Fresh Chili Thai Restaurant or Dana Pani Indian Restaurant. There are also famously good burgers and parmas at Cody’s Café in the Manor Lakes estate.
